St. Patrick's Day Contest ![]()
Saint Patrick's Day is celebrated internationally on 17 March. Named after, um, Saint Patrick, one of the most commonly recognized patron saints of Ireland and originating as a religious holiday, it has gradually become more of a celebration of Ireland and Ireland's culture. Now the PODXS Ø7Ø Club brings you an international 24 hour St. Patrick's Day on-the-air party for members only. (If you're not an Ø7Ø Club member - join us today!)
Who: All members of the PODXS Ø7Ø Club. QSOs with non-members do not count for points, but you are encouraged to pass along information to them about joining us. Please direct them to the Club's website at http://www.podxs070.com/
What: A 24 hour on-the-air St. Patrick's Day party - adult beverages are optional!
When: 0000 - 2359 UTC, 17 March 2012 - St. Patrick's Day.
Where: All HF Bands 160M - 6M (no WARC bands). PSK31 mode only. Valid contacts with PODXS Ø7Ø Club Members only. Work each station once per band only. Contacts with non-Ø7Ø members and dupes do not count for this event.
Why: To compete for the Top Dog Prize, get a participation attaboy sticker for your membership certificate, work new members for LONP credit, and be a wee bit Irish for the day!
Suggested CQ: "CQ Ø7Ø Club Members"
Exchange: Name, S/P/C and your Ø7Ø Member Number.
Bonus Points: How about a Challenge within the Contest? In the same spirit of the Word Of The Month Challenges, using the Suffixes of the stations you work during the contest, spell out the phrase,

Spell "Erin" and claim 100 Bonus Points
Note: a single callsign can only be used once anywhere in the phrase "Erin Go Bragh", even if credit for only two words is claimed. You need 11 separate qualified QSOs for full credit of 500 Bonus Points.

First U.S. station worked counts as two (2) multipliers (country and state).

Be sure to include: Your callsign, name, email address, Ø7Ø member number, the number of valid QSOs you made, the number of States you worked, the number of Canadian Provinces you worked, the number of DXCC Countries you worked, and your claimed Bonus Points.
No logs need be submitted, but logs may be requested by the Contest Boss as required.
Awards: All PODXS Ø7Ø Club members submitting an entry will receive a participation attaboy sticker for their membership certificates. The Top Dog entry will receive a custom made plaque, handcrafted by W4KRN.
